… I had a visit to my offices this morning from a guy who is getting engaged on the weekend to a lady who grew up on farm where some ROSE QUARTZ mining was done when she was a child.
Although her finance(my client) could afford to buy her any expensive stone for her ring, she only wanted a Rose Quartz, which is normally very pale in colour, cracked and not suitable to be cut into a jewel.
However, I had a nice piece of gem quality rose quartz among my collection of stones from over the last 30 years and within 2 hours we had cut and polished the cut stone seen in the attachment. The large piece is what the client brought in to be cut but clearly that rough stone is not suitable to be cut.
The ring will be ready within 48 hours and he will go off to be engaged this weekend as planned.
UPDATE ….
This is the rose quartz ring that we made for the Customer. He collected yesterday afternoon and was taking his lady to Augrabies Falls to a farm where they are going to get engaged.
